Philadelphia Boys and Girls Choirs Challenged Their Kansas City Counterparts to Canned Goods Contest
During Super Bowl week last month, the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Philadelphia Girls Choir got into the competitive spirit by challenging the Kansas City Allegro Choirs to a canned food collection competition.
The choirs competed to see which could collect the most canned goods in their home team’s colors. The Philadelphia choirs collected more, with 2,424 green canned goods; however, organizations that addressed food insecurity in both cities were the real winners.
As part of the bet, the Philadelphia choirs received cases of Kansas City barbecue sauce, and, as a show of good sportsmanship, the Philadelphia choirs sent their Kansas City friends boxes of Philly soft pretzels.
The canned goods in Philadelphia were donated to Philabundance.
