King of Prussia District Holds Ninth Annual Shopping/Dining Week
A heartwarming regional dining and shopping event returns in 2023 for its ninth year, this time running for 12 days. The annual KOP Restaurant Week and KOP Shops for CHOP are March 13–24.
As before, the programs benefit the King of Prussia campus of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), which includes the Middleman Family Pavilion and CHOP Specialty and Urgent Care Centers.
Produced by King of Prussia District and presented by SERVPRO of King of Prussia, these events have raised $290,124 for CHOP’s King of Prussia campus since 2014.
The Particulars
KOP Restaurant Week features two-course lunch menus priced at $15, $20, or $25 and three-course dinner menus at $30, $40, or $50. Serving them up are 18 of KOP’s fine dining restaurants.
In addition, deals are on the table from 10 of KOP’s fast casual/quick service restaurants.
The KOP Shops for CHOP donation days run concurrently (March 13–24).
It features 22 of KOP’s most generous retailers, each hosting donation days for the children’s healthcare facility, while providing special discounts.
More Than Just Menus and Merch
Over the years, King of Prussia District has grown this event into a community-wide fundraiser, extending far beyond restaurants and retail.
The expanded scope has contributed to a steady increase in donation totals each year, from $11,500 in its first year, to $69,140 in 2022.
Additional fundraising activities planned for 2023 include:
- Facebook raffle
- King of Prussia District will kick off fundraising with a Facebook fundraiser and contest March 2–16.
- Donors to KOP Restaurant Week’s Facebook fundraiser will be entered to win a prize pack of restaurant and retailer gift cards and products valued at several hundred dollars. Virtual entries into the contest will be sold for one chance for $10, three chances for $20, and 10 chances for $50. King of Prussia District hopes to raise $3,000 through this contest.
- Upper Merion Area School District fundraising
- UMASD will host a district-wide pajama day fundraiser on Mar. 14. Students and staff across all buildings are encouraged to wear pajamas and, if possible, donate to CHOP.
- Last year this effort raised over $7,000.
- Block Party for CHOP
- King of Prussia District will close out fundraising with a family-friendly block party in the King of Prussia Town Center on Apr. 30 (rain date May 7).
- Main Street will close to make way for wandering characters, magicians, inflatable carnival games, fire trucks, face painting, music, balloon art, and more.
- The block party is free and open to the public with a suggested donation of $5 per person.
- Community Champions for CHOP
- Generous businesses can pledge a donation of $300 or more to CHOP through this King of Prussia District program or can opt to host fundraisers of their own.
- To date, more than 18 businesses have pledged to donate through this campaign.
“King of Prussia Restaurant Week and KOP Shops for CHOP are perfect examples of how this community can work together to rally behind an important institution that touches the lives of so many,” said Eric Goldstein, President & CEO of King of Prussia District. “We are grateful for all who contribute to the success of this event and invite everyone to dine and shop for a great cause for 12 days in KOP.”
