Colorcon, the Harleysville pharmaceutical coatings supplier, has completed the acquisition of Airnov Healthcare Packaging, Inc. BioSpace announced the particulars of the deal.

Colorcon creates the micro-thin coatings for tablets and capsules to ease the oral administration of pharmaceuticals.

Airnov specializes in packaging that protects products such as medications from damage by exposure to moisture or oxygen. Specialty lines of business include customizable, drop-in products (such as canisters and packets) and plastic bottles made of oxygen-barrier materials.

Airnov employs about 700 workers in manufacturing sites in the United States, France, China, and India.

The acquisition is expected to aid Colorcon in strengthening  its priorities of convenience, compliance, and safety.

“Airnov’s capabilities are a strong complement to Colorcon’s existing portfolio” said Simon Tasker, Colorcon’s CEO. “Our partnership expands our platform of stability and moisture management solutions from core to coatings to in-package offerings.”
