Norristown Sheriff’s Office Employee Pat Giambrone Retires Yet Again — It’s Her Third Try

Pat Giambrone, marking retirement No. 3.

Pat Giambrone “retired” from Norristown’s Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) twice before, but she kept being lured back. Oscar Gamble covered her third attempt Main Line Media News.

Giambrone — the longest tenured MCSO employee — worked several part-time positions elsewhere that didn’t suit her.

But when she landed at the MCSO, her skills made her valuable. She made great use of the stenography and typing abilities she gained from Montgomery County Community College’s curriculum.

The MCSO, where she answered and transferred calls, was decidedly low-tech in those days. “There was a typewriter and a phone on every desk,” she recalled.

The longer she worked, the wider her reach became; she eventually assisted officers delivering anti-drug messages to area schools. And she helped investigators with local cold cases.

After 24 years, she left, looking to nestle at home with “Grandma stuff.”

But before long, at a sheriff’s request, she returned, albeit as a part-timer.

She set aside full-time employment again in 2018 to care for her ailing husband. But after he passed, she came back yet once more just “to keep busy.”

Even in her latest exit this month, Giambrone is keeping her hand in the business, working just a few days per week.

“I don’t like sitting at home all day,” she concluded.

Pat Giambrone’s full résumé can be gleaned from her Main Line Media News story.
