Former King of Prussia resident Howard Grossman is a 2023 Point of Light Award winner. He was honored for strengthening grandparent-grandchildren bonds, as announced by the organization.

Grossman is a semi-retired city planner and economic developer whose main career unfolded in Wilkes-Barre.

More, he shares his life with eight grandchildren.

His general concern for their greater good led to a focus on grandparents, especially those who become primary caregivers.

His nonprofit— the Northeastern Pennsylvania Intergenerational Coalition — works to bolster the 90,000 grandparent-led families in the state.

He often handles hotline calls from anxious seniors.

“They often don’t realize they need to learn about the educational system that exists today, not when they or their kids went to school. They also need information about health and other things that are important in raising a youngster,” he said.

Grossman is particularly committed to helping financially struggling families and youngsters absent any caregivers at all.

His salient message? Families in this role are not alone.

“There is a grandparent community of large consequence [nationally and locally]. I want people to know how significant this community is.”
