Elkins Park ‘Makeup Girls’ Form Groom, Glow, and Grow, Helping Women Feel Better about Themselves

By

Former colleagues Stephanie Stein and Rebecca Carpino were known in their shared workplace for not only dressing smartly but also crafting just the right look from their daily makeup regimen.

They’ve now paired now to run Groom, Glow, and Grow, an Elkins Park firm that helps women in need of a boost feel good about themselves.

Matteo Iadonisi profiled Stein and Carpino for 6abc.

Nicknamed the “Makeup Girls” for their consistently professional appearance, Stein and Carpino arrived at their talent for crafting clean, complimentary cosmetic looks from personal experience.

Carpino is a two-time cancer survivor who still remembers the emotional reaction to her hair loss: “I felt like my womanhood was gone,” she recalled.

Stein had had an interest in makeup, but she delved more deeply in the art as an occupational therapist. She found that teaching the application of liners and powders was therapeutic from a “dexterity and motor control” perspective.

From those backgrounds — augmented by grants and makeup artistry certifications — Groom, Glow, and Grow emerged.

They’ve now helped more than 100 patients.

One was Stephanie Dunn, a leg amputee.

“To feel like a person again and to do something fun and enjoyable made a huge difference,” she said. “I feel like I can do anything.”
