For One Montco Municipality, 2023’s Heavy Machinery and Traffic Cones Signal Future Revival
The incessant beep-beep-beep of construction equipment in Norristown will ring in the ears of residents and business owners for quite a while in 2023.
But the revitalization projects they herald could inject millions of dollars in the community, recasting the noise as cheery sounds of economic optimism. Justin Heinze explained in the Norristown Patch.
Here are projects — some already active, others in the pipeline — for the county seat this year:
- Kennedy-Kenrick High School
- The former high school property will morph into a housing project of over 300 apartments, townhouses, and a park
- Montgomery County Justice Center
- Adjacent to the already existing courthouse, the new municipal building is expected to be completed by 2025
- Norristown State Hospital
- The 68 acres of the former Norristown State Hospital will be redeveloped now that it’s in the hands of the municipality
- Schuylkill River Trail
- The Trail Junction Center, still under construction, will serve as the intersectional meeting point between the Schuylkill River Trail and the Chester Valley Trail
- Main and DeKalb Business District
- The corner of these two streets is expected to be transformed into a business district.
