Ben Hartranft, a Lansdale resident, being congratulated by Drew Carey on his $16,000 win on The Price Is Right.

Ben Hartranft, a Lansdale resident, won thousands on CBS’s popular game show The Price Is Right, reported Chris Rollins for Cat Country 107.3.

The episode with Hartranft aired last week, but he had to keep his $16,000 in winnings a secret since October when the show was originally taped.

“When [distinctively voiced announcer George Gray] called my name, I got so excited,” said Hartranft. “I literally jumped out of my chair. It felt like Christmas morning.”

Hartranft played the It’s in the Bag pricing game, in which he had to match various grocery items with displayed prices on the bags.

The game-show appearance was not Hartranft’s first time on national television.

He was on The Ellen Show several years ago; Ellen DeGeneris presented him with $10,000 for his work with autism.

Hartranft was diagnosed with autism at two years old. After graduating from North Penn High School, he has become an autism awareness advocate. He is now working at the grocery chain Giant and runs his own business called Ben Energy One Presentation.

As part of his profession, he speaks at area schools and businesses about autism.
