Upper Perkiomen High School Grad Wins 2022 Legoland Title; Beating the Competition Was No Snap

Thayden Reinhart, newly crowned Lego Master Model Builder.

Thayden Reinhart, 19, a graduate from Upper Perkiomen High School and resident of Pennsburg, clicked with the judges to earning the title of 2022 Master Model Builder at Legoland Discovery Center.

In addition to bragging rights, the distinction earned him a position at the center, located within the Plymouth Meeting Mall.

As a Master Model Builder, Reinhart will inspire customers old and young with their own Lego creations. He’ll also help maintain the in-store Miniland, an intricate reconstruction of Phila. architectural wonders in 1.5 million bricks.

The competition he won was a four-hour series of rounds. Fifteen Lego hopefuls, winnowed from an initial field of 50, navigated a series of assignments to be constructed from a limited number of bricks.

Each heat was timed and themed:

  • Round 1: Something representative of the City of Phila.
  • Round 2: A mode of transportation
  • Round 3: Something self-representative

Upon the onsite Legoland Discovery Center announcement of his win, Thayden Reinhart — newly crowned Lego Master Builder — received the congratulations of his competitors, a brief “confetti” shower of Lego bricks, and a round of applause from Lego mascot, Bertie.
