Parx Casino One of Many Fighting to Establish What Gambling Looks Like in Pennsylvania
An area casino has become a major player in the recent movement to bring gambling back to its traditional roots. Katherine Sayre wrote about Parx Casino in Bucks County in The Wall Street Journal.
Earlier this year, Parx Casino in Bensalem became embroiled in one of the most contentious topics in the gambling industry. The casino filed a complaint against Pace-O-Matic, which produces “skill games,” those imbued with player decisions rather than the random spin of wheels or flip of cards.
Casino representatives like those at Parx argue that the devices siphon their legitimate business.
“The proliferation of illegal games got to the point where it just can’t be tolerated,” said Gary Samms, an attorney for the casino.
Parx has paid $50 million for its slot-machine license, and the action against Pace-O-Matic is in order to protect the long-standing establishment and others like it.
