Only one Montgomery County startup made the PBJ list of 10 notable VC deals.

A Philadelphia Business Journal assessment of 3Q2022 venture capital funding results showed a general slowdown, reported by Ryan Mulligan. Despite the sluggishness, however, some local startups did very well, including one (and only one) Montgomery County enterprise in King of Prussia.

As a whole, attracting investors to fund startups regionwide was a tough row to hoe during the quarter. From its 2Q2022 high of $2.7 billion, the level speculative investment fell 77 percent, according to data from PitchBook-NVCA Venture Monitor.

The July-to-Sept. period’s $619.6 million in new businesses funding was centered mostly in commercial entities related to the healthcare and information technology fields.

In the top-ten listing, the last slot (No. 10) was earned by InHomeTherapy of King of Prussia. Its $22 million resulted from a private stock sale late last month.

InHomeTherapy provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services in patients’ homes. The remaining nine VC standouts in the area are listed in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
