Action News Meteorologist Brittany Boyer reconnected with her roots at Spring-Ford Area High School to visit the teachers that shaped her passion. In a special report for Action News, Boyer reunited with her broadcasting teacher Cheryl Murgia. It’s been 15 years since Boyers graduated from Spring-Ford in Royersford, but her face is not forgotten in the building.
The broadcasting department at the high school has since upgraded its technology. Taking a tour of the new and improved state-of-the-art studio, Murgia recalls the first time Boyer picked up a camera.
“You dropped the camera, and it shattered into pieces,” Murgia reminded Boyer.
The now successful meteorologist chuckled in response to the recollection of her first go at broadcasting.
“Thankfully, that wasn’t my first and last day in her class,” Boyer said.
The broadcasting studio where Boyer found her passion has since been renamed the Steve Bonetz Studio. It’s in honor of her broadcasting teacher who passed away suddenly in 2017.
Boyer said that Murgia and Bonetz are to thank for beginning her journey in broadcasting. The two teachers took their pupils on field trips and introduced them to guest speakers in their classes.
Since she was a student at Spring-Ford, Boyer had always wanted to work for Action News. Now, her former teachers are delighted to see her dreams become a reality.
“You were one of those kids I would’ve never forgotten.” Murgia told Boyer.
