Wife of Hatboro Officer Felled by Bee Sting Is Writing a Memoir, Guiding Others Through Grief

By

Whitney Allen, wife of Hatboro K9 officer Ryan Allen, is writing a book about her journey through grief, a trek she faced after his untimely death last fall. FOX29 News reported her intentions.

It was October 2021 when officer Ryan Allen was stung by a bee while at home in Bucks County. He eventually told Whitney he wasn’t feeling well, and then he collapsed from a vicious allergic reaction.

Whitney worked to sustain him while waiting for an ambulance. He was originally transported to Doylestown Hospital before being transferred to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Phila.

His condition never improved to any great degree, and by April 2022, after being transported back home, he was gone.

He left behind spouse Whitney, two young sons, and his K9 partner, Louie.

Whitney Allen is finding the writing process difficult but cathartic: “It’s helpful in the sense that I’m writing it for other people that have gone through or are going through tragedy and grief,” she said. “So, in that way by helping, [it] brings me a sense of peace and purpose.”

Whitney hopes the book, titled Running in Trauma Stilettos, will be available by late 2022 or early 2023.

Full details about the Allen family in the aftermath of losing their husband and father are at FOX29 News.
