Center School Welcomes New Director of Education
Center School, based in Abington, is excited to welcome Josh Ecker to the administrative team as the Director of Education.
Center School has been serving and educating students who learn differently for over 30 years. It recently embarked on a five-year strategic plan to strengthen its position as a premier educational setting for children with learning differences.
With the implementation of targeted strategies from the strategic plan, its leaders created an even brighter future for Center School.
Last year, the newly structured administrative team increased inquiries to the school by 121 percent and enrollment by 20 percent. The addition of Ecker further expands the administrative team and addresses additional goals outlined in the strategic plan.
Ecker previously worked for the Salisbury Township School District and has a strong background in education and leadership. He taught for eight years as an English teacher, a Social Studies teacher, and a gifted teacher. In addition, he led the district’s learner-centered, technology-enhanced education program.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and American Studies from Ursinus College, a Master of Arts in Education from Villanova University, and is completing his Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership with a focus in Mind, Brain, and Teaching from Johns Hopkins University.
Ecker will support the academic and social-emotional learning curriculum and parent-student-school partnerships. He will also support teachers by guiding them in their professional growth.
Center School’s Head of School, Mindy Wawrzyniak, believes that Ecker’s diverse skill set makes him uniquely qualified to support the students and families of Center School.
