The motorcycle entourage at Gemma Services was a precursor to the arrival of St. Nick himself.

Gemma Services, a Plymouth Meeting resource for special-needs and at-risk children and families, had a visitor recently whose jolliness wasn’t jarred by the July temps he faced. Accompanied by motorcycle riders from Hogs and Honeys, Santa brought a heartfelt warmth to offset the meteorological variety, as covered by the Main Line Times & Suburban.

The occasion was the sixth annual Christmas in July Toy Run.

Nearly 150 riders brought unwrapped toys to the Gemma Services party. Each gift was donated, and additional costs of the celebration were offset by Variety — the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley.

But Santa’s packed sack was almost overshadowed by the presence of the riders themselves. The kids lit up at the roar of the two-wheeled procession as it arrived onsite.

One gift, however, resonated deeply.

A special-needs child received a bicycle that had been specifically adapted to his limitations. It gave him the opportunity to glide around on wheels, much like the motorcyclists who thrilled him.
