Narberth Attorney, Founder of Philly Music Fest, Helps Local Musicians Thrive

By

Greg Seltzer, the founder and producer of Philly Music Fest, is using his business savvy and passion for music to help local musicians thrive, writes Sarah Jordan for The Philadelphia Citizen.

The Lower Moreland native describes himself as a “music nerd” who has written several books on 1960s rock and how it relates to historical events.

He is stewarding his nonprofit music festival because he believes in the importance of nurturing the next generation of musical talent. This is the festival’s sixth year, and Seltzer hopes to raise and donate $100,000 to various local kids’ music education charities.

However, he ensures to prioritize musicians over corporate sponsors.

Philly Music Fest is “an artist-focused festival,” he said. “Sure, the fans are super important, but we really go out of our way to take care of the bands playing the Philly Music Fest, not just with a payment, but we focus our promotion on the bands and their success, not ours.”

Seltzer is also a partner at the law firm Ballard Spahr and has co-founded the Ballard Academy for Student Entrepreneurs. This year, he is teaching Entrepreneurship and Startup Law at Penn law school.
