Popular Eatery in Nearby Chester County Has Big Plans for the Future
Hank’s Place in Chadds Ford has had some rough years recently, but owners Kathryn and Anthony Young are planning to bring the eatery back better than ever, writes Jen Samuel for the Daily Local News.
After surviving the pandemic that forced many in their industry to close their doors for good, the Youngs suffered another major setback when the remains of Hurricane Ida hit the region.
The building that housed Hank’s Place was completely submerged during the height of the storm, making it a total loss. Now, they aim to demolish the current structure and build a new one.
“The Youngs look forward to bringing back the traditions of Hank’s Place, the flowers, the fine food, the familiar faces, the atmosphere, and the hometown-feel — just at higher elevation,” said Kathryn.
While the construction process will take some time, the owners have already started serving their signature dishes via a limited grab-and-go menu from a temporary food trailer.
“Hank’s is back in miniature, just like it was in 1950 a roadside eatery,” said Young.
The menu focuses on “handcrafted-from-scratch, home-style comfort food,” she said.
