Plane Headed for Blue Bell Crashes on Wayne Golf Course, Bystanders Help Pilot and Passenger Get Out of Plane

By

A single-engine plane registered to a man in Ambler crashed into St. David’s County Club in Wayne at approximately 3:30pm on Wednesday afternoon, says the Tredyffrin Township police. Nicole Acosta and Jasmine Payoute report on the crash for CBS3.

Officials say a mechanical failure caused the Cirrus SR22 single-engine plane to crash, which was carrying a male pilot and female passenger, and two cats, who were coming from Fort Meyers in Florida to Wings Field in Blue Bell.

The pilot found an opening on the golf course and made an emergency landing near some trees, and witnesses on the golf course were able to help the passengers get out of the plane.

“It’s extremely rare. They’re very fortunate. I think the pilot did as good a job as you could given the situation. And it was nice to have the people here so close to help them out,” Tredyffrin Township Police Chief Michael Beaty said.

Both occupants were taken to Paoli Memorial Hospital and are expected to be OK.
