Penn Community Bank's grant to the New Promise Foundation will go toward aiding refugees like these, escaping the war in Ukraine.

Penn Community Bank continues its support of relief efforts for those displaced by the conflict in Ukraine. The local financial institution has contributed 5,000 to the New Promise Foundation, a Bristol-based nonprofit assisting Ukrainian nationals in Pa.

“We are very excited and honored to be a recipient of this grant from our local Penn Community Bank, said Irena Gamkiv, member of the board of directors of New Promise Foundation.

“The funds will enable us to extend our help to even more locally based families with children, including those who have just arrived from Ukraine and need assistance with housing, food, school supplies and other basic necessities.

“We are very grateful to all our local partners for the ongoing assistance they provide,” she concluded.

About New Promise Foundation

New Promise Foundation, Inc., is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2019. It manifests a long and challenging road endured by the Kaniewski family.

Founder Voytek Kaniewski, came to the U.S. in 1984 with nothing more than one suitcase and $500. While working multiple low-paying jobs to support his wife and infant son, he always had a vision for a better future. Living in a molded basement, he worked relentlessly toward it.

Slowly, with dedication and support from his wife, he built a very successful window business, Okna Windows, in Bristol, Pa.

Today, nearly 40 years after his arrival to this country, Voytek and his family are in a position to give back to the community’s most vulnerable population: kids. The New Promise Foundation was born to help kids achieve their dreams, a true manifestation of the American Dream.
