Conshohocken-based AmerisourceBergen is among the growing number of companies that are opting to make the suburbs their post-pandemic home rather than Philadelphia, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The wholesale pharmaceutical distribution and services company decided to relocate its headquarters from Chesterbrook to Sora West, a 12-story new development in Conshohocken, in 2018. AmerisourceBergen moved into the space during the pandemic. It will occupy the entire 427,333-square-foot building and its employees will have access to parking with 1,200 spaces on site.

According to Stefanie Perry, senior vice president of talent management and organizational development at AmerisourceBergen, the company chose Sora West to be able to better recruit across the entire Philadelphia region thanks to its centralized location.

Still, Perry noted that the pandemic has taught AmerisourceBergen to be flexible when it comes to time spent in the office each day.

“It’s just not about days in the office; it’s also about time when people come in and when people leave,” said Perry. “What we’ve seen is that not everybody needs to be in at 8 a.m. anymore. It’s not about the face time. It’s about how do we work productively to get the job done.”
