Malvern Preparatory School for young men received the largest donation in the school’s 180-year history, worth $6 million, from Victor Maggitti, a King of Prussia businessman and former chair of Malvern Prep’s trustees, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journals.
Victor Maggitti, who is founder and president of Vimco Inc. in King of Prussia, has children and grandchildren who attended the independent Catholic school, and he currently holds a trustee emeriti position.
20 years prior, the Maggitti family donated the St. Augustine Sculpture which sits at the head of campus. He also made a $20 million donation to Villanova University in March, where he graduated from in 1956.
Malvern Prep’s gift will go towards the construction of the Vic Maggitti Pavilion, a building which will hold educational amenities such as administration, counseling, and learning aids. Plans for construction are expected to begin in 2023.
“It will provide Malvern Prep with a true center of campus as it relates to student services, which is an incredible gift to the well-being of students,” said Patrick Sillup, Malvern Prep’s 15th head of school elect.
