The Curtis Symphony Orchestra will continue its concert series at Immaculata University with a performance on Thursday, April 28 at 7:30 PM in Alumnae Hall Theater.

Conductor Robert Spano reunites with “force of nature” Yefim Bronfman to perform Béla Bartók’s ferocious Second Piano Concerto.

Bronfman, a recent addition to the Curtis faculty, won a Grammy Award for his recording of the concerto. The program continues with Tchaikovsky’s brooding Fifth Symphony. In this work, resolve and sweeping optimism clash against bouts of steely melancholy.

We are indeed excited at Immaculata University for the return of the Symphony Orchestra of the Curtis Institute of Music to our campus,” said William Carr, Steinway Artist and professor of music and piano at Immaculata.

“With Steinway artist Yefim Bronfman performing the Bela Bartok Piano Concerto No. 2, and this world-class ensemble being led by Maestro Robert Spano, Immaculata University provides a performance venue for this internationally renowned ensemble to transform audiences while at the same time inspiring young performing artists in the development of their potential. As such, Immaculata University participates and celebrates in the musical performance excellence that is defined by the Curtis Institute of Music.”

With the designation of an All-Steinway School, Immaculata’s commitment to its music programs continues to expand. Immaculata offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (with performance emphasis), a Bachelor of Music in Music Education or Music Therapy, and a Master of Arts in Music Therapy.

General admission is $19 per ticket. Purchase tickets.
