Suzanne Zelov of Villanova and Mary Katherine Schenkel of Phoenixville have been sharing just about everything since they met 17 years ago, including skincare problems, writes Lisa Dukart for Philadelphia Business Journal.

“At this point in our lives, we have tried almost everything that’s out there, barring surgery,” Schenkel, said.

As they researched topical skincare products, they both found success with ones containing cannabidiol, or CBD, found in cannabis plants.

In 2019, the longtime friends, using their own funds, launched a women’s skincare brand called Sweet & Kind Co. out of Wayne. The products had CBD, vitamins A, C and E, plus peptides.

They developed a skincare routine and product line for women 40 and over with a serum, moisturizer and muscle cream.

More non-CBD products are coming this spring, including two sugar body scrubs and a body lotion.

They’ve also developed a men’s brand for ages 25 to 50, Young Buck Skin, offering a facial lotion, body wash, beard oil and skin balm.

This was neither woman’s first business.

Zelov had a children’s hat business Schenkel had a children’s clothing line, so they both had marketing experience, though neither had worked with skincare products before.
