Visitors to Lansdale’s Scent & Sip are able to create their own fragrance and make it into a product, with options ranging from candles all the way to pet shampoo, writes Samantha Geiger for Main Line Today.

The process of creating your chosen product begins with guests walking over to the wall of scents where there are over 160 different fragrances to choose from.

Every fragrance is in candle form and labeled alphabetically, with scents ranging from fruity, sweet, or like your favorite meal – there are tons of scents to suit everyone’s personal preference.

Next, guests write down 10-12 of their favorite scents. Staff then bring all these scents in their pure, liquid form, where guests are free to experiment with the blends and decide which pairings go best.

Usually, guests pick two to four scents to blend and then decide what product they’d like to create.

No matter whether they’ve chosen to create a sugar scrub, aloe gel, cologne, or candle, the last step is to create a label and come up with a unique name for the special creation.

“We offer loads of sweet treats like icing and fruity cereal. If you are a floral lover, we have bouquets of wonderful smells like roses, lilac, and lavender. Our masculine and woody fragrances slate, mahogany, leather, and bourbon are always in season,” said owner Jen Burnley.

“The most intriguing fragrances are the sentimental notes, like the smell of old books, race fuel, and butter. In addition, we rotate out seasonal collections throughout the year. We are currently working on summer—spoiler alert—guava is amazing!” she says.

The whole process takes around 45-60 minutes. If guests create a wax product, they may have to come back to retrieve the item after it cools.

“I wanted my next career move to be rooted in community and centered around creativity,” said Burnley in regards to her inspiration behind Scent & Sip. “After loads of research into various ideas and looking around, no one else was doing something just like this.”

Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks and snacks, and the Scent & Sip keeps cups and wine openers readily available. It’s the perfect spot for birthday parties, date night, a baby shower, and more with a private space for special events.
