The Philadelphia region is experiencing a building boom, with some of the development projects poised to breathe new life into several former industrial communities in Montgomery County, including Norristown and Bridgeport, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

PRDC Properties is currently working on a $150 million development in Bridgeport. The project is set to include 250 apartments and 348 townhouses set on 35 acres fronting the river.

Meanwhile, the county has broken ground on a $415 million Justice Center in Norristown. The three-phase project will take five years to complete and is planned to play a significant role in the ongoing efforts to revitalize the borough.

Plans for the new center campus in Norristown came from a collaboration between the Montgomery County Courts, Montgomery County leadership, and Montgomery Bar Association.

Additionally, MM Partners, a Philadelphia-based developer, is planning on constructing a $31 million mixed-use development not far from the Justice Center.

MM is best known for the development of Brewerytown in Philadelphia, and they are planning on using many of the design elements from there in the new Norristown space.

The projects in Norristown and Bridgeport could also be a sign for other developers to take a look at this corner of Montgomery County and consider it for further development.
