Home of Earl Jamison, Peddler’s Village Founder is For Sale; a ‘Sanctuary for Both Man and Beast’

6009 Pidcock Creek Road, New Hope.

The New Hope estate designed by Earl Jamison, Peddler’s Village founder, is again being peddled. Kennedy Rose reported the 37-acre listing for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Jamison built the main house in 1978, after his 1962 launch and subsequent promotion of Peddler’s Village. Peddler’s Village is a popular tourist attraction with shopping and dining in Bucks County.

He imbued the residence with the 18th century architectural theming, mimicking the use of the Colonial era aesthetic to unify his retail-entertainment-dining site.

The main dwelling, located at the iconic 6009 Pidcock Creek Road in New Hope, has three bedrooms and five bathrooms and is a reproduction of a period farmhouse. The interior features wood walls, exposed beams, and a stone fireplace.

The plot also holds a three-bedroom guest house, pond, saltwater pool, gazebo, and trails for horseback riding.

In 2009, George and Susan Turner purchased the property for an undisclosed price. They consider their time at this glorious property as stewardship of a significant Bucks County asset.

They said they would particularly miss the home’s “immediate sense of peace, majesty, and sanctuary for both man and beast.”

More on the current availability of the former home in New Hope and of Earl Jamison is at the Philadelphia Business Journal.
