Dialyze Direct, a national provider of kidney care services at long-term care facilities, has signed a letter of intent to buy Bryn Mawr-based Compass Home Dialysis, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Compass provides on-site dialysis services at nine skilled nursing facilities in the Philadelphia region and operates an outpatient dialysis clinic.

The financial terms of the deal that will expand Dialyze Direct’s footprint in the Philadelphia market have not been disclosed. However, the companies are planning on entering into a definitive agreement by the end of February.

The deal comes soon after the New Jersey company acquired Renew Dialysis, a regional skilled nursing facility dialysis provider that operates in Ohio and Virginia.

Dialyze Direct was founded seven years ago by group of individuals who dared to care differently and provides on-site dialysis services in over 130 nursing homes and skilled nursing units across 13 states. It is led by co-founder and CEO Henry Kauftheil.

The company has an Exton office and with this latest acquisition, it will start providing services directly in Philadelphia for the first time.
