Career Corner: This Job Pays Up to $125,000 Annually and Currently Has Over 10,000 Job Openings

Java Programmer

It often feels like looking for work either means a low-paying role with plenty of openings or a high-paying role with so much competition that it is hard to break in.

However, one position currently offers a salary of up to $125,000, and according to Indeed, currently has over 10,000 job openings nationwide. This is the role of being a Java developer.

The information was shared courtesy of an article for Barron’s, and is sure to turn some heads for people either studying in computer science or who already have their degrees in the subject.

Though to be fair, $125,000 is the upper end of the salaries. The low is around $70,000, and the median is $93,000.

If you are working with Java then that puts you in the position of developing web applications for companies. In regards to education, a bachelor’s degree is sufficient, though you will need additional certifications.

And another significant perk is that even prior to the pandemic, Java developers were able to work remotely.

Computer-based jobs have had better prospects for job security for quite some time, and the pandemic has only fortified that.

Even if Java is not your thing, computer scientists, in general, are still in high demand. This is further evidenced by Glassdoor’s rankings of the 50 best jobs in America. Number one was Java developers, but number two was data scientists, another position that computer scientists can do well in.

While such rankings and job availabilities will undoubtedly change with time, in the near future it looks like now is a great time for people who can get into this field.
