In addition to always offering high-quality meals that are guaranteed to satiate everybody’s hunger, the eatery also offers a trip back in time as it has changed very little from when it was started in 1941 by Lou Bondi.

Lou’s Sandwich Shop has been serving the same, award-winning Zeps and cheesesteaks to eager Norristown customers for eight decades, writes Todd Haas for 6ABC.

Today, the shop is owned by his grandsons, brothers Lou and Charlie Alba.

“People came in 20 years ago and they say, the place still looks the same, and I say yeah well, the sandwiches are still the same too,” said Charlie.

The shop is a local institution that has been visited by patrons for decades.

Some of them, like Stephen, a local resident, have been regulars ever since the eatery first opened its doors.

“You walk in the door and you know everybody and everybody knows you,” said Gober.

Both the owners and the customers consider each other to be like family and for them, it feels like a reunion each day.

“I always appreciated the interaction and learning from people and seeing people,” said Lou.
