Cleaning out the Closet During COVID? Here’s Where You Can Donate Furniture, Clothing, and More in Montgomery County
If you are looking to donate clothing, furniture, or other items to help community members who might be struggling, there are several places to choose from, some of which also offer pickup, writes Diana Lu for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Liberty Thrift Stores has several locations in Montgomery County and offers free furniture pickup on weekdays. You can donate clothing, blankets, furniture, appliances, books, and home decor. Proceeds support Liberty Ministries.
Laurel’s Loft in Lansdale accepts clothing, accessories, housewares, new linens, and new electronics. Donations support Laurel House, a nonprofit domestic violence agency for individuals and families in Montgomery County.
New Life Thrift, with locations in Glenside and Cheltenham, also offers pickup within its delivery zones. It accepts clothing, accessories, housewares, home decor, and furniture. It is run by New Life Presbyterian Church in Glenside.
One House at a Time’s Beds for Kids program accepts new pillows, bedding, books, dental hygiene products, and hand sanitizer at its Huntingdon Valley warehouse.
Habitat for Humanity ReStore offers free furniture pick up. You can donate furniture, appliances, lumber, roofing, tools, and electronics. All profits go toward building and repairing local homes.
Finally, Goodwill Industries of Southern N.J. & Philadelphia has one of the most comprehensive lists of acceptable donations, which includes unopened medical supplies and cars.
