Tower Health has found a new owner for Brandywine and Jennersville hospitals that will keep both facilities open as acute care hospitals, writes Lisa Scheid for the Daily Local News.

Tower entered into a definitive agreement with Canyon Atlantic Partners, which will take over the two hospitals on Jan. 1.

All staff in good standing with the hospitals will be offered positions by the new owner.

The deal provides a lifeline for Jennersville Hospital, which was scheduled to close on Dec. 31 and had already begun shut-down procedures.

Cheryl Kuhn, president of the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce, expressed her relief over the deal.

“I am cautiously excited,” she said. “The ER will stay open, but we don’t know the extent of the hospital staying open. Of course, ER service is extremely important. This is a sigh of relief for so many people. But long-range, we still need the hospital.”

After Tower announced the deal, Chester County officials held a press conference.

State Rep. John Lawrence used the opportunity to praise the community for working together, while State Sen. Carolyn Comitta emphasized that keeping the two hospitals open will save lives in the community.
