Aqua Pennsylvania has completed $1.7 million in infrastructure improvement projects in Upper Moreland and Whitemarsh townships to improve service reliability for customers throughout Montgomery County.

In Upper Moreland Township, crews completed a $1.2 million project that replaced about 5,500 feet of aging six-inch cast iron pipe with new eight-inch ductile iron water main on the following streets:

  • West Mill Road from Newington Drive to York Road
  • Hampton Road from West Mill Road to Orchard Way
  • Orchard Way from West Mill Road to Newington Drive

Crews also completed a $513,000 project in Whitemarsh Township to replace about 2,100 feet of eight-inch ductile iron water main on the following streets:

  • Manor Road between River Road and Hagys Mill Road
  • Hagys Mill Road from Manor Road to Johns Lane

These projects are part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program that replaced more than 26 miles of aging main in Montgomery County in 2020 to improve service reliability for customers. The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area.

The capital spend for these projects is included in Aqua’s nearly $52 million infrastructure program planned for Montgomery County in 2021.

Aqua Pennsylvania serves approximately 1.5 million people in 32 counties throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
