Developer Wants to Build Apartment Community Along Riverfront on Conshohocken, Whitemarsh Border
A developer is proposing a new 598-unit apartment community that would be constructed along the riverfront on the border between Whitemarsh Township and the Borough of Conshohocken, writes Kevin Tierney for More Than The Curve.
The project proposed by KRE Acquisition would have four buildings on two adjacent properties, the majority of which are in the Borough of Conshohocken.
The property was previously owned by O’Neill Properties, which had already obtained approval for a similar plan between 2013 and 2015 in both municipalities.
However, both of these approvals have since expired, so the new developer has had to start the process over again.
According to the application submitted to Whitemarsh Township, the new proposal only notably differs from the old project in three ways.
First, it reduces the number of units that will be constructed in Whitemarsh. Second, there is an update to the stormwater management facilities. And third, a more prominent promenade offering public riverfront access will be featured through the center of the property.
The proposal has been included on the agenda of the Whitemarsh Township planning commission’s latest meeting but is yet to be presented to the Borough of Conshohocken.
