September 1st COVID-19 Update: Over 575 New Cases Reported in Montgomery County Over the Last 4 Days

Montgomery County reported 586 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 4 days (August 27th-30th) bringing the total number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases to 62,867 countywide since March 7, 2020.

There are currently 118 people hospitalized in Montgomery County hospitals due to severe COVID-19 symptoms. Of those COVID-19 patients, 14 people are on ventilators.

There were 3 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Montgomery County during August 27th-30th, 2021.

The current total deaths are numbered at 1,342 in Montgomery County, since March 7, 2020.

Vaccine Information

  • The COVID-19 vaccine is available for everyone age 16 and over who lives or works in Montgomery County, as well as the Pfizer vaccine for teens aged 12-15.

In Montgomery County, 60,382 people have been partially vaccinated, and 432,226 have been fully vaccinated.

In Pennsylvania, approximately 12,161,625 total vaccines have been administered.

Pennsylvania COVID-19 Update of New Positive Cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 9,078 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported between Saturday, Aug. 28 and Monday, Aug. 30, bringing the statewide total to 1,297,119 cases.

There are 1,768 people currently hospitalized due to severe COVID-19 symptoms, with 476 of those people in intensive care.

Between Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 29, there were 34 new deaths reported across the state, bringing the State’s total death registry to 28,018.

Vaccine highlights

Federal data representing all 67 counties:

  • According to the CDC, as of Sunday, Aug. 29, Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered.
  • According to the CDC, as of Sunday Aug. 29, 65.7% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.

Statewide data representing the 66 counties within the Department of Health’s vaccine jurisdiction:

  • Pennsylvania’s vaccine dashboard was updated on Friday, July 9 to more accurately reflect the number of people who are partially and fully vaccinated in each county outside of Philadelphia, along with demographics of those receiving vaccine.   • Vaccine providers have administered 12,161,625 total vaccine doses as of Monday, Aug. 30.
  • 5,952,047 people are fully vaccinated; with 51,661 vaccinations administered over the past three days and a seven-day moving average of more than 17,200 people per day receiving vaccinations.

The department continues to urge Pennsylvanians to follow CDC guidance for wearing a mask where required by law, rule, and regulations, including healthcare, local business and workplace guidance. For the protection of themselves and others, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated or are partially vaccinated are still encouraged to wear a mask when in public.

CDC also recommends all individuals wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission.

There are 197,995 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 637 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure. 

There are 5,136,138 individuals who have tested negative to date.

In licensed nursing and personal care homes, there have been a total of 74,331 resident cases of COVID-19 to date, and 15,872 cases among employees, for a total of 90,203 at 1,607 distinct facilities in all 67 counties.

Out of total deaths reported to PA-NEDSS, 13,957 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here. 

Note that the number of deaths reported to NEDSS is not exactly the same as the COVID-19 related deaths reported by the death registry. The number of deaths among nursing and personal care home residents and employees is taken from the PA-NEDSS death data, as this information is not available in the death registry data.

Approximately 30,125 of total cases have been among health care workers.

The Department of Health is working to ensure the vaccine is provided in a way that is ethical, equitable and efficient to all Pennsylvanians:

For the protection of themselves and others, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated or are partially vaccinated, are still encouraged to wear a mask when in public.

Stay well:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
  • If you must go out, please wear a mask when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.
