The event that raises money for Abington-Jefferson Health and also increases awareness of prostate cancer will take place on September 12 at the business’ Lansdale location.

The fundraising initiative has been taking place since 2011 under the Modern Male Barbershop brand and has so far managed to raise close to $50,000.

This includes $10,000 during the pandemic, which Prosseda admits was “pretty amazing.”

“We’re already on pace to raise $30,000 this year,” he said. “The reason this fundraiser exists is to pay it forward to those in need.”

In addition to raising funds, the Grow-A-Pair campaign aims to help men receive prostate cancer screening and, if required, treatment.

The event will offer discounted haircuts in exchange for a donation. It will feature donated food, drinks, and live entertainment. Donations can be submitted at the event and through the end of September.

Prosseda hopes he can get 100 barbershops to join him in the initiative for the 2022 event.
