Five Montgomery County ZIP Codes are among the top 30 places with the fastest growing rent in Pennsylvania, according to a new ranking by Stacker.

Stacker compiled the list using data from Zillow. ZIP Codes are ranked based on the change in Zillow Observed Rent Index for all homes and apartments in the last year as of January 2021.

Out of Montgomery County ZIP Codes, 19426 (Collegeville) ranked highest in No. 13 with a one-year rent increase of 5.2 percent. The ZIP Code also recorded a five-year rent change of +21.7 percent.

Currently, the typical rent is $1,913, which is 17.8 percent above the typical rent in the Philadelphia metro area.

Stacker points out that in this Forbes feature, the COVID-19 pandemic created something called a “seesaw effect” on rent, with rates for rents in the most expensive U.S. cities dropping while rental rates have gone up in historically less expensive areas.

Next is 19454 (North Wales) with an increase of 4.6 percent over the last year, along with a 13 percent rise over the last five years.

ZIP Code 19096 (Wynnewood) is in No. 21 with an increase of 4 percent, followed by 19401 (Norristown) in No. 24 with 3.6 percent.

The list is rounded out with 19464 (Pottstown) in No. 28 with a 3.1 percent rent bump.
