Upper Providence Little League Players ‘Thrilled’ to Have Made It to Little League World Series
Despite not making it past their second game, Upper Providence Little League players and coaches are happy that the team has gotten a chance to play at the Little League World Series, writes Chris Keating for Newswatch 16.
This is no small feat, considering that Team Pennsylvania has not managed to make it to the world series for the past six years.
It is the first time a Pennsylvania team made it to the Little League World Series since 2015, where Red Land Little League got to the finals before Japan beat them.
The team was led by head coach Ben Ludwig, who said it was a special honor to represent Pennsylvania at the tournament.
“Thrilled to be here,” said Ludwig. “I am from the Scranton area, so I used to come here with my dad, who was my Little League coach back in the day, and my buddies, so to have me and my son on the team right now being here as participants is a dream come true.”
And despite losing both games, the team gave it their all on the field, making everybody they represented proudly.
“This team has worked hard to get here,” said Ludwig. “They are a relentless and unselfish bunch.”
