Jess Ames has been a part of Pennsylvania all her life, from growing up in Royersford to working at Sly Fox Brewery to attending Millersville University, now Montgomery County is where Jess Ames has made her career as Outreach & Events Director for Angel Flight East.

Angel Flight East (AFE) is Pennsylvania’s first and largest provider of free air transportation for medically needy patients, arranging flights to distant medical facilities, delivering supplies to disaster areas, and reuniting families during desperate times.

The pilots are volunteers who use their private planes to fly patients to their destinations, with the pilots paying the expenses of the flight requests.

“Many people are unaware Angel Flight East exists,” Jess notes. “We do not know how many families may be foregoing their medical care because they don’t think there’s a way to get there. For example, a few years ago, we flew a patient from Lancaster, PA to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.”

Jess credits Ellen Williams, AFE Executive Director, for having a positive impact on her career. “Ellen has been my mentor at Angel Flight East since I started in 2014,” Jess says. “She has helped to pave my way into the nonprofit sector and has continued to encourage me every step of the way.”

Jess Ames is responsible for planning and execution of AFE fundraising events, as well as content for AFE social media platforms and serves as the media relations coordinator.
