Spring is in the air and it’s the perfect time to find out how to benefit from a Montgomery County Community College education with their upcoming virtual open house events.

MCCC will host three spring online open house events beginning Saturday, April 24, from 10 to 11 a.m., and again Tuesday, May 4, first from noon to 1 p.m. and then from 5 to 6 p.m.

Each event is free and open to the community. For full details and to register for an event, visit the spring online open house home page and register at MCCC.

Executive Director of Enrollment Management Dr. Michelle Brown-Nevers said the College is hosting three Spring Online Open houses on different dates and times as a way to reach every person who would like to attend an event, but lives and works on different schedules.

“We have multiple opportunities for people to participate,” she said.

“The Saturday option might be for stellar K-12 students who might be too tied up during the week and could not find a way to connect with MCCC,” added Michael Harcum, Associate Director of Admissions and Dual Enrollment. “The week-day options are very flexible. We understand we service not just K-12 students, but also busy adult learners who go to work.”

During each scheduled hour-long event, participants will have the chance to explore all that MCCC has to offer and can receive one-on-one consultation through community breakout rooms. For self-taught learners, attendees can go at their own pace and watch pre-recorded sessions.

Topics covered during each event will also include information about financial aid, career services, MCCC’s flexible schedules and programs and the wide-range of opportunities available for students.

“With the spring online open house, we understand Zoom fatigue is real,” said Harcum. “That’s why we’re enhancing our open house experience by minimizing the actual time of the event. Instead of the normal two-hour event, we’ve condensed the time of each event to one hour.”

“The breakout sessions will be for families who want to learn about our support systems, check on academics as well as get the general administrative information they need,” said Dr. Brown-Nevers.

“You’ll have the flexibility to navigate wherever you’d like your journey to take you. It’s not limited to one environment,” said Harcum. “With this format, students can go and be the master of their own journey.”
