April 15 COVID-19 Update: Montgomery County Announces Two New Vaccine Clinics, Cases Slowing Down

The Montgomery County Commissioners has announced the launch of two new vaccine clinics at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Spring House and Bethel Community Church in Pottstown. 

Bethel Community Church in Pottstown will hold vaccine clinics every Saturday, and Bethlehem Baptist Church will hold a Saturday clinic this Saturday, April 17, and every Saturday in May.

Montgomery County reported 194 new positive cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday, April 14th, 2021, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 54,208 countywide since March 7, 2020.

There are currently 207 people hospitalized in Montgomery County hospitals due to severe COVID-19 symptoms. Of those COVID-19 patients, 1 are on ventilators.

There is 1 new COVID-19 death reported in Montgomery County since the last report. The current total deaths are numbered at 1,275 in Montgomery County, since March 7, 2020.

Vaccine Information

Regarding the J&J vaccine, the county says: “We have taken inventory of all our remaining first doses of Pfizer and have updated our Vaccine Clinics schedule accordingly to only distribute Pfizer through next Tuesday, April 20,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.

“Taking a pause to evaluate a potential side effect is exactly how a data driven, scientific process should work, and I hope Pennsylvanians will be reassured by this step. We have to balance speed and safety as we try to get more shots in arms, and this pause gives me confidence science and safety are guiding that process,” she explains.

In Montgomery County, 4,111,182 people have been partially vaccinated, and 2,488,948 have been fully vaccinated.

In Pennsylvania, approximately 6,600,130 total vaccines have been administered.

Pennsylvania COVID-19 Update:
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 5,730 new positive cases of COVID-19 on April 14th, 2021, bringing the statewide total to 1,087,792 cases.

There are 2,541 people currently hospitalized due to severe COVID-19 symptoms (an increase from last report), with 530 of those people in intensive care, an increase from last report.

There were 50 new COVID-19 deaths reported across the State, bringing the State’s total death registry to 25,522.

Pennsylvania COVID-19 Vaccine Stats:

  • According to the CDC, as of Wednesday morning, April 14, Pennsylvania has administered first doses of vaccine to 40.1% of its eligible population,
  • PA ranks 10th among all 50 states for first doses administered by percentage of population.
  • According to the CDC, as of Wednesday morning, April 14, Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered.
  • Vaccine providers have administered 6,600,130 total vaccine doses as of Wednesday, April 14.
  • 2,488,948 people are fully vaccinated; with a seven-day moving average of more than 96,000 people per day receiving vaccinations.
  • 1,862,642 people are partially vaccinated, meaning they have received one dose of a two-dose vaccine.
  • 4,351,590 people have received at least their first dose.

Stay well:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
  • If you must go out, you are required to wear a mask when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.

Montgomery County’s testing sites are by appointment only. Register online or call 610-970-2937, and are self-administered.

Additional Information
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

COVID-19 contact tracing efforts are ongoing and are critical to slowing the spread of the disease. The County has partnered with ACLAMO, Family Services of Montgomery County, Montgomery County OIC, and Visiting Nurses Association Community Services to help with contact tracing efforts.
