Willow Grove’s John Langenstein has been hosting a very popular “pandemic bingo” game every Friday on Zoom for nearly a year, practically turning this fun pastime into a full-time occupation, writes Ellen Gray for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

However, there is no monetary reward for players or for Langenstein, who used to manage the security for touring musicians.

He now spends about 30 hours a week preparing and running the game, from calling out the numbers, to choosing, making, and shipping the prizes, and booking guests to go with the theme he has chosen for any given week.

So far, these have included ‘90s Nickelodeon star Danny Tamberelli, the Invincible Vince Papale, and a tour guide in Chernobyl, along with many others.

His regular players also come from all walks of life and include WMMR DJ Pierre Robert, Hooters drummer David Uosikkinen, and a New York judge among the regulars.

And everybody seems to be enjoying themselves.

“I was thinking I don’t know if I’m going to like this, and I’ve grown to love it,” said Robert. “It’s an interesting mix of people.”
