Pennsylvania Ranks in Lower Half Among Best, Worst States for Women
Although its ranking has improved in recent years, Pennsylvania still has quite a way to go in terms of the well-being of its women, according to a new analysis by WalletHub.
The Keystone State ranked at No. 32 on the 2021’s Best & Worst States for Women ranking.
To determine how women are faring and where they have the best opportunities, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 26 key metrics of living standards for women.
Pennsylvania recorded its best showing in the High School Graduation Rate for Women category, where it came in seventh. It also ranked among the best states in Quality of Women’s Hospitals, coming in at No. 20 for the lower Share of Women in Poverty at No. 23.
Median Earnings for Female Workers (Adjusted for Cost of Living) puts Pennsylvania in the middle at No. 25.
Meanwhile, it ranked at No. 13 for Female Uninsured Rate, No. 42 in Unemployment Rate for Women, No. 32 in Women’s Life Expectancy at Birth, and No. 31 for Share of Women-Owned Businesses.
