Lansdale Pharmacist Vaccinating Thousands of People While in Superhero Garb

Skippack Pharmacy pharmacist Mayank Amin, also known as Dr. Mak, has been using his event-planning background to vaccinate thousands of people – all while wearing superhero garb, writes Victor Fiorillo for Philadelphia Magazine.

The Lansdale native has recently been gaining national attention for his efforts. He has vaccinated around 4,000 people, most of whom received their shots at pop-ups.

“I have 35,000 people on my waitlist,” said Amin. “We’ve had 2,000 calls in the last 24 hours. It might take five minutes for me to do one vaccine at the pharmacy. But at the pop-ups, with all the volunteers, we can do 100 in that time.”

He wears a superhero outfit to make people feel more at ease around him but also to honor the real superheroes of the pandemic – healthcare and frontline workers.

Organizing the huge vaccination events was not difficult because, in addition to Skippack Pharmacy, Amin owns an event planning company Platinum Dream Events.

“I’ve organized huge, multiple-day Indian weddings,” said Amin. “And, well, we’ve gone from 40 weddings a year to maybe one or two in the last year, so I’m redirecting that energy into planning large-scale clinics.”
