While the pandemic has been especially hard for the women in the workforce, Susan Scerbo, a public relations manager in Narberth, has found a silver lining in the ability to spend more time with her son, Duncan, writes Jessica Dickler for CNBC.

Since the coronavirus hit the country nearly one year ago, Scerbo has been working remotely.

“I live about 50 miles from my workplace, and I am very happy to not be spending two-plus hours in the car commuting,” she said.

Thrse extra hours are spent well enjoying the company of her 17-year-old son who has Down syndrome.

“We’ll do an evening walk with the dog, something I never would have been able to do before,” she said.

Parenting a special needs child has been hard because Scerbo had never felt like she could do enough for her son. But not having to go into the office has “given me time that quells that feeling,” she said.
