The Factory, the new competitive rock-climbing training center for youth and adult athletes in Bridgeport, officially opened to the public on January 25, writes Gina Tomaine for Philadelphia Magazine.

The 20,000-square-foot building is the sister facility to Reach Climbing and Fitness which is located just next door. Together, they make up the largest rock-climbing and training center in the Philadelphia region.

Reach Climbing and Fitness opened in the spring of 2019 and immediately welcomed the USA Climbing 2019 Youth Sport and Speed National Championships.

“We built the original gym from the ground up as the first built-to-suit climbing gym in our area,” says owner Michael Feinberg. “It’s got the only regulation speed wall in our region and a number of other features that make us really stand out.”

The new training center is a continuation of Feinberg’s dream. It got its name from the setting – an old industrial building.

Among the things that make it stand out are its 6,000 square feet of bouldering along with a Ninja Warrior course, not something typically found at a climbing gym.

“We wanted to add some obstacles to this new center,” said Feinberg.
