Local Theater Reporter Plays Himself in New Ryan Murphy Netflix Movie “The Prom”
Frank DiLella, a theater reporter for news station NY1 in New York City who grew up in neighboring Andorra, plays himself in the new Ryan Murphy Netflix movie, The Prom, writes Sheila Watko for NBC 10 Philadelphia.
The Prom is a film adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name. It has a star-studded cast that includes Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and Kerry Washington among many others.
DiLella is a huge fan of musical theater. Growing up, he attended Waldron Mercy Academy in Merion where he loved being part of its annual big spring musical. During his teenage years, he performed in various musicals at La Salle College High School and also at Merion Mercy Academy.
“The little six-year-old musical theater-loving Philadelphia boy inside of me just screamed for joy,” said DiLella, “because I loved this Broadway show so much and so to be a part of the film, this big musical theater Hollywood mega-film, was just a dream come true.”
Being a part of the film that started streaming on Netflix on Friday was a special treat for him.
