Montgomery County is offering $5 million in grants to local restaurants and other food service businesses to help with the losses caused by the pandemic, writes Antionette Lee for KYW News Radio.

Montco Strong 2021 restaurant grant program will award grants of $10,000 each to restaurants and food service businesses that are most in need of support.

Applications will open on Wednesday, December 30, and will close seven days later, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Montgomery County Commissioner Vice Chair Ken Lawrence said that the county has so far awarded $20 million to county businesses and nonprofits that have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This latest grant program specifically targets the restaurant and food service industry.

“We recognize the importance of this industry as a cornerstone of Montgomery County’s economic and workforce development, as well as central to the growth of entrepreneurship, job opportunities, and our communities,” he said.

Eligibility requirements and further information including application details can be found on the program’s website.
