Tamarindo’s in Flourtown Is Among Five Best Restaurants for Outdoor Dining Outside Philadelphia
Tamarindo’s, a Mexican restaurant in Flourtown, is among the five best restaurants for outdoor dining outside of Philadelphia, writes Craig LaBan for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
To help stand out amid a slew of Mexican eateries in the area, owner Fernando Sauri offers gratis pitchers of margaritas to his BYOB guests. But this is far from his biggest draw.
The restaurant that began in Blue Bell more than two decades back, relocated to its current location six years ago. It now has a sprawling backyard patio behind the historic building it occupies.
The kitchen also remains one of the first in the region to truly explore regional Mexican cuisines. It is one of the few places in the area to offer Yucatecan flavors featuring a delightful combination of fresh chiles, tropical fruit, and seafood.
Meanwhile the Trio Yucateco platter offers a mouthwatering grilled skirt steak along with a banana leaf-steamed tamal with smoky pork tinga and codzitos, a Mayan rolled tortilla dish.
However, the eatery’s most memorable dish remains a red snapper crisped in the deep fryer before being encrusted in a parsley and garlic salsa tanged with lime.
