West Chester resident Cristina Rosano, a doctor of optometry, has been selected from a record-high 576 candidates to become one of eight new members of the 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Cheer Team, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

“Being selected as a new member of the Philadelphia Eagles Cheer Team, along with graduating from optometry school this year, has truly been my dream come true,” said Rosano. “This year, the culmination of hard work and dedication in chasing my dreams has finally come to fruition.”

Rosano earned a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition from Virginia Tech, where she was also a member of the Alpha Chi Omega High Tech Dance Team.

For the first time ever, the Eagles auditioned the 30 finalists virtually to protect their health and safety during the coronavirus pandemic. The candidates spanned 23 states, as well as Canada, Mexico, and Japan.

However, the cheeleaders are still unsure if they will be on the field this year, as holding live sporting events is still not a certainty due to the pandemic.
