Kobe Bryant’s Classmates Reflect on Never Before Seen High School Footage of Late Basketball Legend

By

Before he joined LA Lakers and became a basketball legend known around the globe, Kobe Bryant already had a superstar status at his Lower Merion High School, writes Access Online.

Now, with some never-before-seen footage of Bryant in high school and during graduation surfacing, his classmates are remembering once more what a fantastic classmate and a fantastic friend he has been to them.

“Everyone who knew him loved him,” said Audrey Gornish, Bryant’s classmate and friend.

Bryant made an announcement that he was skipping college and heading straight to the NBA months before he graduated from high school.

Yet, “he still showed up to class, he still took finals,” said Gornish. “He was still one of us.”

On graduation day, Bryant celebrated with the rest of his class late into the night, and he even showed off some breakdancing moves and his rapping skills.

“Kobe really just let loose,” recalled Gornish.

But his classmates agree that the highlight of the night was an impromptu basketball game at 2 a.m. where Bryant played at the school’s gym for the last time before moving on to the NBA.
